Growing Concerns

What was this, his fifth lap around the Nook as he tried to kill time? He honestly hadn’t been keeping that much track on how many times he had circled around. His mind was busy replaying how the scene in which he gave Baste the drawing would go. He truly could hardly contain his energy. Though time seemed to drag on for longer than usual. Each time he glanced at the clock when he passed it didn’t seem that it was as far along as it felt it had been. It had been said that time flies when one is having fun, so he supposed the reverse must also be true.

Icarus paused for a moment in his route to set his book down. He supposed he should see about getting a bag at some point to carry his things, so that he wouldn’t damage the book by accidentally drooling on it. Not to mention he probably shouldn’t be putting things he had set on the ground in his mouth. Especially at the Nook where wynglings were constantly running through with mud, paint, and various other things that weren’t considered good for putting in one’s mouth. For the time being, it couldn’t be helped.

He heaved a sigh as he picked up his book and turned the corner to read what would surely be too slow time. His general pattern was interrupted with the thud of his book falling from bumping into another wyngling. While he did have concern for his materials being dropped so harshly, first and foremost he had to address the wyngling. He opened his mouth only to pause as he saw a tired looking red wyngling. Had it not been for the obviously different face marking and lack of darker red in tuft, he might have confused them with an acquaintance.

“Ah, my apologies. I hope my slight has not caused you inconvenience.”

The wyngling grunted in response, which Icarus could only really take as a sort of acceptance since they didn’t seem overly agitated. The crimson child walked past him and continued to follow the path they had been taking before. While Icarus normally might have moved on, he felt himself giving pause to watch the wyngling. The tired look truly did remind him of the old acquaintance and he couldn’t help but think of how she had mentioned she had suffered terrible nightmares. He had urged her to see about help, but he doubts she ever did, as she had been the sort to keep to herself.

Maybe he could help whatever was plaguing this wyngling. It’s possible they had just had a couple of rough nights in particular, and would be fine here afterwards. Though they had also had a scratch on their face which isn’t the normal place rough housing wynglings acquire wounds. What if another wyngling was tormenting them?

His paws kneaded the ground as he watched the wyngling turn the corner. He hated the thought of bursting into another’s business, but he simply couldn’t let this pass. Not with the possibility that they did legitimately need help. He snatched up his book and trotted around the corner to go after the wyngling. Baste had helped him considerably, maybe she could help this wyngling too.

Nyand that's the last wyngro picture for a while. Hopefully I'll get the motivation back soon to work on Icarus and Riot more. For the time being though, I do intend to invest my energy to assist in the development of Gemkins and draw my other characters (which I'll most likely be posting on my second account as I don't post on it enough.)

If anyone is still invested in the story, the two mentioned below might be continuing without me as there's no discernible amount of time that I'll be taking off from wyngro and I feel bad about holding them up. (As an added note that I forgot to mention, if it is continued without me, feel free to leave Icarus out of the images. It would feel odd to expect him in them when I'm not actively contributing anything.)
